Thanks to an overbearing pap we now have some insight into Matty Healy’s thoughts about his role in Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department. Yes folks, Matty boy has officially entered the chat.

Spotted by paparazzi while taking a leisurely stroll, The 1975 frontman was of course asked about TayTay’s new album that despite being rumored to be all about her boyfriend of six years Joe Alwyn (has anyone checked on him lately?), according to the sleuthing Swifties seems to actually be heavily influenced by Matty and their short lived relationship.
In a clip obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the photographer asked, "How would you rate your Taylor diss track compared to the 30 others?” Acting confused by the inquiry, “My diss track?” Matty responds, adding, “I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good.”
Unlike Matty, since Swift dropped her highly anticipated record, that ended up being a surprise double album anthology, the Swifties have had plenty of time to dissect every last one. And after much speculation, have concluded that several songs including “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “Fortnight,” and the title track, 'The Tortured Poets Department,” just to name a few, were penned about Healy.
So maybe start with those Matty…
That being said, The Tortured Poets Department is actually a lyrical, song-writing feat, and as she noted in her album release post, “This period of the author’s life is now over…” plus both she and Healy have moved on. So maybe instead of hypothesizing and conjecturing about which silly boy each song is about, maybe let's just simply enjoy Tay’s “tortured poetry” for what it is.
