Rick Ross is undoubtedly “The Boss,” but he isn’t just a regular boss, he’s a cool boss — doing his part to maintain his lifestyle by practicing fiscal responsibility.

During his recent sit down with Forbes, Ricky Rozay the Hip Hop renaissance man that he is, contradictorily admitted that the unspoken truth to maintaining a lavish lifestyle is that it doesn’t hurt to be frugal at times. Whether that be taking commercial flights or cutting his estate’s 235 acres spans of grass with his personal heavy-duty John Deere tractor.
“I bought a tractor that is enclosed and has air conditioning and a radio,” he explained. “I had the windows tinted so I wouldn’t cause too much confusion with the traffic right next to the estate.”
While Ross’s motivations were monetary, he ended up gaining much more. “When I get in the tractor, it’s a whole other level of peace, a whole other level of connecting with the estate and the animals and the birds and the wildlife," Ross revealed.
“I sit there and have my cannabis rolled up, and, man, I look at the property and can appreciate my struggles and my triumphs, those rough days,” Ross continued. “For anybody who doesn’t cut their own grass, I would say take time out every two or three months to cut your grass because it is such a great and peaceful sensation.”
And that’s not all. Many might believe that the Biggest Boss would fly private, but he says he “tries his best to fly Delta” whenever he can. And those two things aren’t the only ways Ross cuts corners. As he told Forbes, he enjoys “finding beautiful things that cost $8 or $20.” Besides being a thrifter (which we’re kind of obsessed with), Ross also forges partnerships with companies that align with his likes and lifestyle, which in addition to his music, frugal ways and a myriad of his own businesses affords him the financial freedom to spend money on the things he’s always wanted.
“Yes, I’m not about throwing money away, but it’s important that people enjoy the fruits of your labor and stay ahead of the curve,” Ross said. “I make sure that I am surrounded by love and inspiration and motivation. Through the window I am looking out of right now in the Southwest Ranches (that’s in Florida btw), I can see my red-on-red 458 Ferrari, and it is inspiring.”
Moral of the story, mow you’re own lawn makes you a boss and rich… At least that’s what we got from it.
