Upon releasing his latest album, Wonder, Shawn Mendes was only able to perform the 2020 album in a live capacity once, before the arrival of We Can Survive 2021.
Mendes told Audacy’s Julia and Bru, “it’s just nice to be playing again. I made an album that I cared so much about and worked so hard on, and it came out and I never heard anybody sing it until like two weeks ago.”

He continued, “this is only my second time I’ll be hearing people sing back “Wonder” to me, which is like a song that means so much to me…it’s just a really good feeling to be back.”
Explaining the creation process behind his projects, the “In My Blood” singer told us, “I make a lot of music kind of based off of performance, so I’m always like feeling what it might feel like in an arena.”
From its inception, Mendes shared that “Wonder” was always meant to be performed in a large format setting, with audience members singing every word.
