Hannah Zeile, who plays teenage Kate Pearson in hit TV show “This Is Us,” is opening up about how Mandy Moore has inspired her in various ways.
It all started off pretty normally for Zeile, telling WOGL's Glenn Kalina that she worked a food service job in her teenage years to help make a little bit of money before jumping back into acting after a 4-year hiatus.
“I was 18 and working at Chipotle as a cashier. I had done a few things when I was younger, but then I took a complete 4-year break from acting just to go have a high school experience and focus on that,” she said.
When she landed a role as teenage Kate on “This Is Us,” she had to really dig deep to portray the heavy struggles Kate would face in the show. Luckily, she had a team of people to help her through it.
“I am grateful that the writers and the creators fully reached out to me and wanted to talk through anything I had questions about or talk about how I could portray it because I wanted to do it in a way that was respectful,” Zeile shared.
One stand-out cast member in particular is Mandy Moore. Zeile reveals that it’s not just Moore’s wisdom that puts her in such a high regard, it’s the way she carries herself in her day-to-day.
“I think Mandy’s one of the most wonderful people in the world, and that if I come to her and have questions, she’ll give me advice, but I really appreciate that she just kind of teaches through actions," Zeile said.
"Just watching her and working with her and seeing the way she carries herself has taught me more than her speaking on things with me,” she continued.
She concluded, “We have a really nice relationship and a friendship, and she’s never wanted to seem like she’s talking down to me at all.”
