The annual tradition of taking in a marching band performance at a Fourth of July parade has been put on hold this year. That doesn't mean you can't get your inner band geek on though.
College marching bands have been entertaining audiences with cover versions of popular songs for years. From rock, pop, hip hop, country, every genre gets the cover treatment from marching bands.
As we await the return of watching a marching band in a parade, here are seven outstanding marching band versions of popular songs.
USC Marching Band - Despacito
The Luis Fonsi/Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber hit was everywhere in 2017 and that included an appearance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum when the USC Marching Band performed the song.
The Ohio State Marching Band - SpongeBob SquarePants Medley
This one is impressive. Not only does the Ohio State Marching Band perform songs from SpongeBob, it's complete with nautical movements.
University of California Marching Band - Call Me Maybe
Ever doubt the power of a marching band? Just watch this video when the entire crowd sings along to the chorus and try not to get chills.
Michigan Marching Band - Beyoncé Medley
Normally, Beyoncé is the one being introduced before a performance. In this case, the roles were reversed as Queen Bey delivered a message to the Michigan Marching Band before they performed "End of Time," "Crazy in Love/Single Ladies/Love on Top," and "Countdown/Survivor."
Temple Marching Band - Party In The USA
Perhaps the best way to celebrate July 4th is with "Party In The USA." Even better, when it's courtesy of the Temple Marching Band.
Ohio University Marching Band - Gangnam Style
Remember that bit about marching bands having the uncanny ability to pump up audiences to extreme levels? Yeah, this is another example. Bonus points as the entire band takes part in a choreographed dance.
Alabama State Marching Band - Old Town Road
The Alabama State Marching Band delivered an incredible performance that'll make you want to get up and dance right alongside them as they play "Old Town Road."
