In the first look trailer released Wednesday (May 18), J.Lo is seen rehearsing with background dancers and reciting a motivational pep talk. Lopez also mentions living in the public eye since the ‘90s. “I do this not for an award,” she says in the trailer. “I do this to connect with people and make them feel things because I want to feel something. My whole life, I’ve been battling to be heard, to be seen, to be taken seriously. I really feel like my life is just beginning.”
Today, the 52-year-old superstar is an actress, singer, dancer, and fashion icon. Her fiancé Ben Affleck even makes a cameo, addressing the pressure she’s faced from the tabloids over the years.“I said to her once, ‘Doesn’t this bother you?'” says Affleck. “And she said, ‘I expected this.'”Directed by Amanda Michel, the Halftime documentary will debut at the 2022 Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 8. “We’re eager to premiere this beautiful exploration of J.Lo’s Latina culture and heritage,” the festival’s co-founder and Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal said in a statement.
Additionally, Halftime is set to premiere June 14 on Netflix.
