Following in the footsteps of other classic rock-inspired bands like Greta Van Fleet and Rival Sons, Dirty Honey is on track to be the next one to make it. And they haven’t even released a full album yet.

The 4-piece band from Los Angeles just became the first unsigned act to ever top Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart with “When I’m Gone.”

"This is crazy: a brand-new, unsigned band has its first single go to #1," frontman Marc Labelle said in an interview with Billboard. "And to top the chart with a true rock song is really cool. It's also a testament to our team who has worked so hard to make this happen.”

Dirty Honey may not have a label but it does have some dedicated support in Red Light Management, which has been promoting the song since it was released earlier this year.

"I knew we had a hit record the second I heard it a year ago," manager Mark DiDia said. "I felt in my gut that if we recorded it right, and put together the proper team, we'd have a #1 record. It feels good to be right."

“When I’m Gone” is one of five tracks on Dirty Honey’s self-titled EP. The band performed a stripped-down version recently for our RADIO.COM audience.

Dirty Honey is on tour with Alter Bridge and Skillet until they open for Guns N’ Roses in Las Vegas this November. Then it’s back to a series of club shows culminating with a hometown gig at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.

In the meantime, check out their new video for “Rolling 7s.”
