The return of live concerts is upon us, and over the Memorial Day weekend the Boone River Valley Festival went down in Boone, Iowa featuring headliners Night Ranger, Great White, and the one and only Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe filling in for Skid Row who were forced to bow out due to continued travel restrictions regarding the COVID-19 virus.

This was Neil's very first post-pandemic show with his solo band featuring Slaughter bassist Dana Strum, guitarist Jeff "Blando" Bland, and drummer Zoltan Chaney while his main act, Mötley Crüe, continue to push back their planned stadium reunion tour into 2022.

In fan footage taken during the show, you can see and hear Vince struggling with the first few lines of their 1987 classic "Girls, Girls, Girls" while the band rocks behind him. "Hey, guys, I’m sorry, you guys. It’s been a long time playin’. My f***in’ voice is gone. We love you, and we’ll hopefully see you next time, man," the singer said to the crowd, before walking off with a humble, "take care." This was the 14th song on the band's setlist, which was finished by a backing track as the band continued to play Vince off the stage.

Fans hoping to rock out with Mötley CrüeDef LeppardPoison, and Joan Jett this year were asked to pump the brakes once again last month. The bands are still coming to your town, just a little later than expected. This could be good for Vince, who has taken flak for his less-than-epic performances over the years. The Crüe's longtime business manager Allen Kovac addressed the group's preparedness in an interview with Fox Business a few weeks back saying that some of the band members were "working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be.” Adding, "let’s see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out."
