Actress Helen McCrory has passed away. She was 52.
McCrory was known for roles in films including “Harry Potter” and “James Bond: Skyfall,” as well as the series “Peaky Blinders.”
The news was confirmed by McCrory’s husband, actor Damian Lewis, in a tweet. Lewis explained that his wife died after a battle with cancer.
“I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” the actor wrote. “She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we loved her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”

McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” a role that was filled by Helena Bonham Carter once McCrory became pregnant. She returned to the franchise to later play Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
James Bond fans may recognize McCrory as UK Home Secretary Clair Dowar in "Skyfall."
McCrory also held the role of Polly Gray in "Peaky Blinders."

Earlier but important projects in McCrory's career include 1994's “Interview with the Vampire” and 2006's “The Queen.”
McCrory and Lewis share daughter, Manon, and son, Gulliver. The couple married in 2007.
