Welcome class, this semester’s course is Depeche Mode 101.

Who are we kidding? No one wants to do homework anymore. Good thing the latest Depeche Mode news has nothing to do with academic endeavors, but as a 21st century update to a classic part of the band’s catalog.

101 was originally released in 1989 as it captured the 101st and final performance on Depeche Mode’s Music for the Masses world tour. The show was recorded live at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California as it marked one of their biggest crowds ever with 60,453 people in attendance.

The film is notable not only for capturing the sheer power of Depeche Mode in the live setting, but it also followed winners of a “be-in-a-Depeche-Mode-movie” contest as they traveled across America before attending the Rose Bowl concert.

An HD version of the film will be released on December 3 and contain a slew of previously unseen footage from the concert. Additionally, there’ll be bonus performances of “A Question of Lust,” “Sacred,” and “Something To Do,” plus, the official promotional video for “Everything Counts.”

The film is available to pre-order now. A limited edition box set featuring a treasure trove of Depeche Mode is also available. The “Depeche Mode 101” box set includes a 48 page behind-the-scenes story of the day photo book, a 20" x 30" replica of original US theatrical release movie poster, a 16 page Anton Corbijn Photo Mode book as featured in the original album release, and much more.
