During his time with Rob + Holly, Young playfully said he “assaults his friends and family with new music” during the creative process of an album before quickly backpedaling on his word choice.
“Unfortunately, for everyone that knows me, there is no one that I do not use as a litmus test when I am making new music,” he shared. “I basically assault people with new music,” he blurted before stopping to clarify, “although, not like when I was falsely accused of assault.”
Following two high-stress weeks before the charges were released, the 38-year-old said he is able to laugh about it now saying, “I didn’t do anything wrong, now it’s just funny that I have a mugshot.”
Following the accusations, Young received an outpouring of support from his friends, family and fans who stood behind him and had his back. As a “thank you,” Young released a new song from his forthcoming album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, early and sounds like he might have something else in the works.
“If you don’t think I’ve already started making t-shirts for this, back-up, c’mon,” he laughed. “I’m absolutely doing that,” Young stated, assuring Rob + Holly he is working on making shirts that feature his mugshot.
“I felt the love, for sure,” he concluded. “You always hear about when people hate on artists or hate on this, hate on that, but I really just felt a whole lot of love.”
