Audacy’s TC & Dina B chatted with Rascal Flatts’ bass player, Jay DeMarcus, to get the scoop on the trio’s farewell tour, which was canceled last year (because, #2020). So will there ever be an opportunity to sing “Bless The Broken Road” at the top of our lungs, live with the trio ever again? The answer may surprise you.

The 2020 Farewell Life Is A Highway Tour, which the trio announced in February 2020, was set to be the final round of shows for Gary Levox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus as they decided to retire the group after 20 years.

“When we started out 20 years ago, we could not imagine all of the people, places and gifts we would encounter,” they posted on their social media accounts along with artwork announcing the tour. “As we head out on the Rascal Flatts Farewell- Life is a Highway Tour, there is no sadness. Just new chapters, new journeys, and new beginnings.”

Little did they know that one short month later the world would look entirely different. The pandemic forced the Flatts men to move on toward the “new chapters, new journeys, and new beginnings,” but there is still a giant hole in the hearts of fans who feel they never got to say goodbye. So do they plan on rescheduling?

“The short answer is, I can’t imagine that at some point we won’t go back out and do it one more time,” Jay told TC & Dina B. “I don’t know what the future will hold. I know that the year that we lost brought a lot of things into perspective for us and made us take stock of maybe some of the things we took for granted… I feel like all of us have great regard for what we built together and honor the music we’ve made together.”
