Stoneman arrived in Greenville in January 2003 and has made the Upstate his home ever since. His hobbies include kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, hunting, automotive racing/NASCAR, skiing, aviation, and skydiving. Around the house, you’ll usually find him inside working on home improvement projects and cooking, or outside working on the lawn and landscaping.
Stoneman and his family are huge animal lovers, with two French Bulldogs and a 93-pound African spur-thighed tortoise that will likely outlive most people they know. On the weekends, they enjoy day trips to the beach, hiking, and checking out local restaurants for new recipes to try at home.
Stoneman gives back to the Upstate by raising thousands of dollars for children’s cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Each year, Stoney shaves his head bald in support of kids battling cancer.
One of Stoneman’s biggest projects is the Guard Your Life BMW Driving Experience at the BMW Performance Center in Greer. Guard Your Life was created alongside one of Stoney’s close friends, John Humphries, who lost his daughter Victoria in a car accident on July 17, 2012. Since the program’s inception, more than 4,000 teens have completed the Guard Your Life BMW Driving Experience classes free of charge. More details on Guard Your Life are available HERE.
