Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil hug it out to put 'rat vs. raccoon' drama behind them

It seems as if the whole rat/raccoon saga has come to a happy ending.

One day following what appeared to be some sort of incident between Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil — which Lindor said was an argument over whether he saw a rat or raccoon in the tunnel — the two teammates were back in good graces following a 4-2 Mets win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

McNeil blasted a two-run home run to give the Mets a 2-0 lead in the third inning, with a fired up Lindor waiting for him by the on-deck circle to celebrate.

Afterwards, during McNeil’s postgame press conference with reporters, he was asked about Lindor and spoke highly of his teammate before Lindor himself crashed the presser to give his teammate a hug and assure everyone else all is good between them.

“It was a rat-coon,” Lindor said toward the camera. “A rat-coon.”

Whatever their argument was about — rodents or otherwise — both Lindor and McNeil have put together strong games at the plate the last two days — a vital combo that needs to get going as the Mets look to turn things around in May.

Now that the two appear to be on the same page, manager Luis Rojas is optimistic it can make the ballclub better as a whole.

“We do get along here as a family,” he said prior to the game. “We’re brothers. Everything that happens in a family on a daily basis happens here. There are agreements and disagreements, and at the end of the day, they both make us better. We’re a better ballclub tonight because of whatever happened last night.”
