The Kris Bryant rumors continue to heat up.
The San Francisco Giants have spoken with the Cubs about Bryant, while the Cubs are evaluating Giants catching prospect Joey Bart as a candidate to be requested in a possible trade, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
Bart, 24, is a former No. 2 overall pick and has a .904 OPS in Triple-A this season. Morosi noted that Bart would likely only be included in a deal that involves players in addition to Bryant.
Bryant, the 2016 NL MVP, is a free agent at the end of the season and would be a rental for any team looking to add him. The 29-year-old entered Tuesday slashing .269/.356/.500 with 17 home runs and 50 RBI.
The Tampa Bay Rays were also reported to be in on Bryant.
