At best, Ronald Acuña Jr. is the second most famous athlete recovering from a major surgery at a Los Angeles facility.
The Atlanta Braves superstar recently posed for a picture with MMA icon Conor McGregor, who is apparently rehabbing in the same building:
Acuña tore his right ACL in a game against the Miami Marlins on July 10th, ending what had been a very legitimate run at the National League MVP. Acuña had season-ending surgery on July 21, meaning the 23-year-old will likely miss a sizable portion of the 2022 season as well.
McGregor actually suffered his injury just hours after Acuña, sustaining fractures to his left fibula and tibia in the first round of a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor -- who turned 33 on July 14 -- was released from the hospital on July 15 after undergoing surgery to repair his left leg.
While we don't know if McGregor -- a native of Dublin -- is familiar with Acuña's on-field exploits, the slugger certainly appears to be a fan of "The Notorious":
