“It’s still gonna be the Astros for me because of Dusty [Baker],” Sabathia said on his “R2C2” podcast with Ryan Ruocco.

Sabathia has a close relationship with Baker, whom he has referred to as a “big uncle” in the past.

“I think he holds that much weight for anybody that knows him,” Sabathia added. “Anybody that knows him is rooting for him. Even being able to watch him bring that organization for where they were. Baker, 72, is actually the winningest manager in MLB history that has not won a World Series title. He has 1,987 career wins across 24 seasons with five different teams.

He last managed in the World Series with the San Francisco Giants in 2002 when they lost to the Los Angeles Angels in seven games.

Baker’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is possible he ultimately retires, meaning this could be his last chance at that elusive ring.
