Yankees fans still jeering at the Astros, Jose Altuve… during game against the Nationals

The New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals began a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Friday night. So, naturally, Yankees fans began chanting hateful things toward the... Houston Astros.

That's right. The three-game series between the Yankees and Astros earlier in the week apparently wasn't enough for the local fans, even though they were about as harsh as imaginable to the visiting, unofficial villains of MLB. They certainly didn't hold back against Jose Altuve, one of the best players on Houston's roster and a representative of the notoriously dishonest Astros teams of the past — whether or not he even partook in the team's sign-stealing schemes is a different story.

Altuve got revenge on the fans in the third game of the series, hitting a go-ahead three-run dinger in the eighth inning to avoid the sweep. And when the Nationals came into town the next day, New York still had Altuve on their minds. Warning: NSFW language.

Who knows if the chants are having their intended effect — the Nationals tagged the Yankees for three runs in the second inning. We'll have to see how the Astros do later in today's slate when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays at 8:10 to see if the vitriol from the Yankees' fan base leaks out of New York and has an impact on how Altuve plays down south tonight.
