Seth Rollins is still the WWE’s Universal Champion.
Rollins regained the title from Brock Lesnar at Sunday night’s SummerSlam in Toronto in a rematch from WrestleMania 35 in which Rollins also won, but this time without any controversy.
In their previous meeting in April, Rollins delivered a low blow to Lesnar en route to a comeback to claim the Universal Champion title. This time, Lesnar was aggressive in the early portion of the match looking to put a quick end to Rollins.
Yet Rollins, who was battling a rib injury, withstood the early onslaught of German suplexes from Lesnar before he was able to turn the tables.
Rollins was battling a rib injury and Lesnar came out of the gate strong, delivering an early onslaught of German suplexes, but Rollins managed to withstand the blows and turn the tables.
Among the highlights of the match was when Rollins managed to leap off the top rope to frog splash Lesnar through the announcer’s table.
Rollins did this again inside the ring, but the turning point came when Lesnar had Rollins within his grip, but The Architect escaped and delivered a super kick and kick stomp on Lesnar.
The two wrestlers, who have had a long-running feud dating back to WrestleMania XXX in 2015 when Rollins interrupted the main event between Lesnar and Roman Reigns, so there was plenty of anticipation heading into the match.
Other notable moments from SummerSlam include Bray Wyatt returning as an entirely new character, "The Fiend," and Charlotte Flair defeating Toronto native Trish Status in front of her hometown crowd.
