If Game 1 was any indication, the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics ought to be a classic – at least the first game certainly was.
With the Celtics down by two points and time winding down, Jayson Tatum managed to drive past Jimmy Butler to what looked like an open basket to tie the game when Heat forward Bam Adebayo flew in front of the rum and stuffed Tatum as he was about to throw down.
The Heat regained possession and held on for a 117-114 victory, but the block was all the buzz among the NBA Twitterverse at the end of the game, with many calling back to LeBron James’ block of Andre Iguodala in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
In fact, Magic Johnson seemed to think it was better.
Of course, the stakes were much higher then, with some being so kind to point that out, but nonetheless Adebayo’s block was immediately being mentioned in the same breath.
