The Celtics and Knicks treated basketball fans to an instant classic in their season-opener at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The thrilling back-and-forth affair ended with a Knicks win in double overtime.
With the game being carried by ESPN, a national audience -- apparently including no less than LeBron James himself -- was captive for what turned out to be a memorable way to tip off the 2021-22 season.
James was among the many who took to social media to share his thoughts as the longtime conference foes renewed their rivalry.
"This game is wild!!" James tweeted. "The garden rocking! No way anybody gone be able to get out the bed tomorrow though! Lol. Burnt toast"
Both teams saw star performances from their top scorers.
Knicks forward Julius Randle poured in 35 points in 46 minutes, while Celtics wing Jaylen Brown, fresh off a recent bout with Covid-19, scored 46 in an incredible 46 minutes of work.
Knicks offseason signee Evan Fournier had the dagger, though, a 3-point shot that put New York ahead for good in the overtime period.
