Stephen Curry was having one of those Stephen Curry type of performances on Thursday night during the Warriors' second game of the season against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Curry dropped 45 points and added 10 rebounds, with the bulk of his damage coming in the first quarter, where he poured in 25 points on 9-for-9 shooting from the field.
Despite Curry lighting it up all night, Clippers star Paul George, who was mic’d up by TNT, challenged the Warriors guard to a mid-game shoot off.
Here’s what George said during the TNT broadcast.
“Let’s make it interesting,” George told Curry. “I give you one, you give me one. I’m from the logo with it.
Curry accepted PG’s offer, and with the Warriors down by two with only a minute and some change left in the fourth, Curry was able to hit the go-ahead three pointer from about 35 feet to put the Warriors up by one.
Less than a minute later, Curry hit another three ball to seal the game for the Warriors, squeaking by the Clippers 115-113.
George is no stranger to the wrath of NBA Twitter, and got clowned for challenging the greatest shooter in league history.
To be fair to George, he had a pretty good night himself in the absence of teammate Kawhi Leonard. PG finished his night with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in a losing effort. He even hit a three of his own with seconds left in the game, but it came a little bit too late as the game was all but over.
There is truly not a better show in the league when Curry has a hot night.
