Hawks star Trae Young, like many music fans, seems to have been spinning Drake's latest album, titled Certified Lover Boy, early on Friday.

Apparently enjoying the new LP on first listen, Young took to social media to tout Drake as one of the best ever -- and stirred up some debate by suggesting Drizzy has now reached greater heights than the legendary Jay-Z.

"Yo when we gonna say Drake has passed Hov?" the All-Star guard asked his followers in a late-night tweet.

More than a few users seemed to think Young had taken his apparent affinity for Drake just a bit too far, with music and hoops fans alike indicating the hot take had missed the mark.

Some music aficionados flat-out disagreed, while others indicated there's no reason to compare two greats in what amounts to a reductive debate. After all, Drake and Jay-Z have collaborated countless times through the years, including a Hov cameo on the new album itself.

Not to mention, Drake and Jay-Z arguably occupy different sub-genres within hip-hop, while Young, still only 22, wasn't even around or musically conscious for a good portion of Jay's career.

In any event, social media being what it is, many who disagreed with Young were weren't exactly cordial in expressing their thoughts.

Meanwhile some sports fans viewed Young's post through the prism of his budding rivalry with Jay's hometown Knicks, which heated up during last season's Atlanta-New York playoff series.
