Most people know Ernie Johnson as the host of the “NBA on TNT” pre- and post-game shows, but he is also quite the inspirational speaker who has a fascinating personal life.
Alabama football head coach Nick Saban recently invited Johnson to Tuscaloosa to speak with his team on campus before the start of the season.
Johnson spoke about the importance of team and how everyone has a role to play, relating to the team he works with on his job.
But the 65-year-old broadcaster had a larger point to be made — this one relating to his son, Michael, whom he and his wife adopted from Romania and was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.
The story Johnson told about Michael is an emotional, heartwarming one that simply cannot be summarized to understand the full impact and inspiration of it.
So, give it a listen yourself:
Johnson concluded his speech by unbuttoning his shirt to reveal a black T-shirt that read, “Be A Better Human,” which was his ultimate message to the team and one that can resonate with everybody.
