On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars didn't look all too great when they were fairly easily dismantled by the Houston Texans, losing 37-21 after going down 27-7 at the half. On Monday, news broke that USC had a head coaching vacancy.
What do those two things have in common? Urban Meyer, and a whole lot of speculation — serious and comical — regarding his future as a coach in the NFL. Though he quite literally just started out this portion of his career, leading the charge in his first regular season game as an NFL head coach for the Jaguars this past Sunday, the timing was just too perfect for fans not to toy around with the possibility that Meyer might as well call it quits sooner rather than later.
In fact, the jokes had begun well before the news of the USC gig had been revealed, as the Jaguars' loss and an "unhinged" Urban Meyer rubbing his team the wrong way had been sufficient fuel to get the social media fire started.
Is Meyer going to leave the NFL so soon? No, even if his debut did feature a wildly unexpected rushing pecking order, some bad decision-making from his future-of-the-NFL quarterback and a significant defeat at the hands of a dumpster fire franchise. But with tweets like the above starting this early, things aren't going too well for the former Florida and Ohio State coach.
