Bears wide receiver tossed for throwing punch at Saints 'agitator'

The Bears entered their wild-card round game against the Saints on Sunday well-aware of New Orleans cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson's reputation. He's a known agitator.

But the Bears failed to keep their composure around Gardner-Johnson. Receiver Anthony Miller was ejected during the third quarter for throwing a punch at Gardner-Johnson after the end of a third-down play.

The incident with Gardner-Johnson was the second by a Bears receiver this season, as Javon Wims threw multiple punches at him and was ejected in the teams' matchup at Soldier Field on Nov. 1.

"We’re just going to play our game," Miller said earlier in the week when asked about Gardner-Johnson's antics. "Guys like that do what they do, but your bark can’t be louder than your bite and it’s hard to bite, so I’m not worried about that.”

Gardner-Johnson was also involved in a practice altercation with Saints star receiver Michael Thomas earlier in the season.

The Saints led the Bears 7-3 at the time of that altercation. Chicago is thin at receiver without Miller, as it was already playing without Darnell Mooney (ankle).
