The Carson Wentz era in Indianapolis could be off to a better start, to say the least.
The Colts quarterback was subject to ridicule by fans on social media on Sunday after what might have been the most embarrassing interception he has thrown in his career.
On a third-and-goal from the Los Angeles Rams’ 2-yard line, Wentz somehow threw an interception on a shovel pass.
Wentz rolled to his right and flipped the ball toward tight end Jack Doyle but was way off mark and the pass was intercepted Rams linebacker Troy Reeder.
To make matters worse, the Colts were trailing 7-3 and could have potentially taken the lead against the Rams on the play.
Of course, fans had a field day with Wentz on social media as the relentlessly mocked and roasted him for the interception.
While Eagles fans may be engaging in some schadenfreude over Wentz’s shortcomings, it is worth noting Wentz needs to be good enough and healthy enough to play in 75% of snaps in order for the 2022 second-round pick they received from the Colts to become a first rounder.
