The Miami Dolphins were dealt a brutal blow early in the game on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Tua Tagovailoa was taken to the locker room on a cart as he left the game in the first quarter with an apparent injury with the Dolphins trailing 7-0.
It was unclear what Tagovailoa injured, but he took a hard hit and was driven into the ground onto his left side.
The second-year quarterback out of Alabama was able to walk off the field on his own, although was favoring the left side he landed on. It was hard to tell if it was a leg or hip injury or something else.
After being evaluated on the sideline, Tagovailoa was placed on a cart and taken to the locker room. Jacoby Brissett entered the game to replace him.
Tagovailoa attempted just four passes before the injury, completing one for 13 yards.
The 2020 first-round pick has had his fair share of injuries with his health being a primary concern prior to when the Dolphins selected him with the fifth overall pick. Tagovailoa was recovering from a dislocated hip that ended his season. He also had surgeries on two high ankle sprains while at Alabama.
Tagovailoa’s spot as Dolphins starting quarterback was not necessarily one set in stone. The Dolphins have been linked to disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who remains inactive and subject to trade rumors.
