Joe Burrow was apparently a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs in his younger days. The Bengals stars' dad, Jimmy Burrow, posted a hilarious photo on Twitter showing a young Burrow wrapped around his mother and rocking a shiny red Chiefs helmet at what appears to be Arrowhead Stadium.
Burrow of course is not a big Chiefs fan anymore as he prepares to enter the unfriendly confines of Arrowhead for the biggest game of his life in the AFC Championship.
Chiefs Kingdom is certainly not fond of Burrow either, whose Bengals came to town in Week 17 and were able to escape with a narrow victory, 34-31 off an Evan McPherson field goal in the final seconds.
All of that does not change the fact that this funny picture even exists. To be fair, Joe's dad was an assistant coach at both Iowa State and Nebraska during Burrow's childhood. Both states, depending on where you live, can be considered Chiefs country, so Burrow, who didn't move to Ohio until he was nine, had no choice other than to route for the 'local' team.
“Joe used to like those shiny red Chiefs helmets,” the elder Burrow wrote. “Not anymore. Geaux Bengals.”
According to ESPN's Ben Baby, Burrow admitted that he was a fan and still has that same red helmet back in his room at his parents' house.
In their first matchup, Burrow was able to do what very few quarterbacks in the league are able to do and outgunned Patrick Mahomes to the tune of 446 passing yards and four touchdowns.
I'm sure this photo will be added motivation for both Burrow and the Chiefs' defense who looks to stop him from having a repeat performance against them.
