Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have two of the biggest arms among NFL quarterbacks in the league, and the two will be squaring off against each other next week on Monday night, with Thursday night’s game being rescheduled.

The two have gone back-and-forth a bit over the idea of a potential throw-off competition between the two over the last year or so, and it almost came to fruition this summer after the Bills quarterback was rated as having a stronger arm than Mahomes in Madden.

However, Mahomes still maintains he has the stronger arm, though, during an interview with Sean Levine on 610 Sports Radio’s “The Drive” in Kansas City on Monday.

“I’ve never seen Josh throw a football. I know how far I can throw it and I can put it out there,” Mahomes said. “If he can beat how far I can throw it, he got me, but I know it’s pretty far.”

So, what exactly is the number Allen would have to beat?

“I think I can get it anywhere up from 80-83 yards,” Mahomes said. “Anything in that range, 75-83, is where I could throw in a throw-off.”

To put into perspective just how far that is, 75 yards equals about 225 feet, or the wingspan of a 747. If Mahomes can hit 83 yards, as he says, that would be 249 feet, approximately the size of a Giant Sequoia tree.

While Allen still needs to get through the Titans on Tuesday, the two will look to air it out when they play each other next week – which is also a potential playoff matchup with the Bills undefeated through their first four games.

“Josh has played top notch football, MVP-caliber football,” Mahomes said. “ When you have an offense and defense both clicking like that they’re going to be a hard team for us to beat and I’m ready for the challenge.”
