Patrick Mahomes on idea he is chasing Tom Brady: 'It's going to be hard to do'

What Tom Brady has accomplished in his career is unprecedented -- playing in his 10th Super Bowl with the potential to win his seventh at age 43.

So, it is only fitting that his Super Bowl LV counterpart is the quarterback who may have the best chance of replicating Brady’s career.

Patrick Mahomes is considered by many to be the best quarterback in the league, and Mahomes himself expressed his desire to match Brady’s six rings last summer.

Now, he’ll have to beat the all-time great in order to keep it at that number.

“To go up against Tom, all the success he’s had, it’s going to be a special moment,” Mahomes told 610 Kansas City Sports Radio’s “The Drive” on Monday. “I’m excited for the opportunity to go up against the GOAT.”

If successful, Mahomes would become the first quarterback in NFL history to win two Super Bowls by the age of 25, (Brady is the current record holder, at 26) which would put him on a Brady-like trajectory.

The Chiefs quarterback understands that won’t come easy, though.

“Anything you do you want to go in and be most successful,” he told 610 Kansas City Sports Radio’s “The Drive” on Monday. “It’s going to be hard to do…to go to 10 Super Bowls and you got six rings and all that different type of stuff. You have to understand you have to go about doing whatever you can to be that type of person and the best player that you can be.

“For me, I understand the team I have around me and the opportunity we have going into this game and we have to try and maximize it as best we possibly can.”
