PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Already dealing with injuries, but scheduled to be a full participant in Sunday’s game against Detroit. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won’t play, going into COVID protocol.
Roethlisberger has dealt with shoulder and hip injuries limiting his time at practice which has allowed for Mason Rudolph to get a number of reps with the first team.
It’s Rudolph’s first start of the season, his last coming on January 3 at Cleveland. The fourth-year QB was 22-39 for 315 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in a game the Browns needed to make the playoffs.
Overall the Steelers third round pick in 2018 is 201 of 326 for 2,089 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Rudolph is 5-4 as a starter in his career.
Roethlisberger is 5-3 as a starter this season, his 18th. The 39-year-old is completing 66% of his passes for 1,986 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions.
