Tampa zoo names baby rhino after Rob Gronkowski

Five Pro Bowls, three Lombardi trophies, 81 career touchdowns, an Entourage cameo … is there anything Rob Gronkowski hasn’t accomplished in his NFL career? There was one thing, but now he can check that off his bucket list too. At long last, Gronk has a baby rhino named after him.

Inspired by the affable tight end, little “Gronk” spends his days roaming Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park, exploring his surroundings, playing with his mother Jane and, for exercise, pushing around a ball decorated with the Bucs’ iconic pirate logo. And unlike the human Gronk, who is coming off a season-best 78 yards in last week’s triumph over Green Bay, the rhino version doesn’t appear to have any dietary restrictions, allowing him to eat to his heart’s content. That means plenty of watermelon (presented via Gronk spike) for the little guy.

Gronkowski has a game in Las Vegas to prepare for Sunday, but he still squeezed in a quick Facetime visit with his namesake, calling the calf his “long-lost cousin.” Charles Darwin might disagree, but the Bucs playmaker is clearly appreciative of having a rhino newborn named in his honor. Speaking of playmakers, Tampa Bay added another weapon to its offensive arsenal this weekend, signing Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown to a one-year contract. With his suspension winding down, the former Steeler could debut for the Bucs as early as Week 9 against New Orleans.
