Tom Coughlin Out of Hospital Following Biking Accident

Two-time Super Bowl winning head coach Tom Coughlin had a scary biking accident last weekend that left him in the hospital for an evening, per a new report.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter, Coughlin "fractured four ribs, slightly punctured his lung and needed stitches in his head" last weekend following a fall on his bike. Coughlin told the duo that he was essentially blindsided by another biker who made contact with his bike and knocked him off his bike by accident.

The 73-year-old apparently attempted to tough out serious injuries before ultimately being talked into taking a trip to the hospital, one that clearly was necessary.

Coughlin was the first coach in the history of the Jacksonville Jaguars, leading the team from 1995-2002. He's, of course, most remembered for his 12-season stint as the head coach of the New York Giants, a position he held from 2004-2015. Coughlin led the Giants to victories over the New England Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. Coughlin would later return to the Jaguars' organization, serving as the team's executive vice president of football operations from 2017-2019.
