The longer Tom Brady is away from the New England Patriots the more different he seems from the Tom Brady we knew for so long. Or maybe not.

In a clip from last night’s “The Late Late Show with James Corden” Tom Brady takes the former showman and current TV host/comedian to play golf, in promotional advance of Brady’s “The Match” event on July 6.

The two share plenty of laughs, mostly about how Corden is not very good at golf. Eventually the conversation steers toward Corden’s passion of theater, particularly a musical they share admiration of, “Hamilton”. When Corden asks Brady where his love of the Tony award winning hip-hopera comes from, Brady replies, with signature grin, “Doesn’t everybody love it?” Brady goes on to reveal that he’s seen the show three times, and that when growing up his father, Tom Sr., kept CDs of showtunes in his car. Now there’s a showstopper! Eventually the two get to singing the show’s signature tune, “Alexander Hamilton”, in a golf cart. Basically it’s Golfcart Karaoke, a play on Corden’s most popular segment, Carpool Karaoke. Doubtful that becomes a new segment for Corden.

So many more layers to the GOAT than we ever knew.

These revelations are fun for his fans, who likely miss him to this day but will always appreciate what he did. It’s a fun look to see him feel comfortable enough to open up like this, which didn’t seem as much the case during his two decades in Foxboro. Though, it should be noted, it’s not the first time Brady has admitted to enjoying Broadway. Lest we forget back in January of 2011 Brady was attending a performance of the play “Lombardi” when the New York Jets were playing the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Wild Card Playoff. Then coach Rex Ryan poked fun at Brady for seeing a show instead of scouting his next potential opponent, who would turn out to be the Jets. Who upset the heavily favored Patriots the next Sunday at Gillette Stadium. But Brady, sore about that loss, got many more last laughs, like being the current Super Bowl champion.

Tom Brady joins Phil Mickelson to take on Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau in “The Match” golf event July 6. No word if Brady plans on doing anymore Golfcart Karaoke, Broadway-themed or not.
