NBA player props: 3 best bets for Friday, February 26

There’s a nine-game NBA slate tonight, which means plenty of options to choose from when it comes to the player prop pool. The card features great matchups, but I’ll go with Utah Jazz-Miami Heat as tonight’s marquee game. Utah is currently favored by 7 points and the total is set to 217.

As for betting tips, player props are a fun way to wager on NBA games even if you don't like a side or total. I like to find matchups that I can exploit or good situations due to injuries.

Let’s dive into a couple of these scenarios now.

Gary Trent Jr. OVER 16.5 points

Trent has been playing great since the Blazers lost CJ McCollum and he comes into today’s matchup averaging 15.3 points per game (PPG) on the year. That number has gone up to 18.3 per game over his last ten due to his increase in minutes and shots in McCollum’s absence.

The last time these two teams matched up, Trent Jr. scored 28 points and he has eclipsed this number in seven out of his last 10 games.

Hoping he is a little extra motivated for this primetime ESPN matchup against L.A. Look for him to go over this number against a reeling Los Angeles Lakers squad.

Zach LaVine UNDER 4.5 assists

The first-time All-Star comes into this game averaging 5 assists per game (APG). But, LaVine is averaging 4.1 APG when he plays at home and 4.4 over his last 10 games.

Today he faces off against a Phoenix Suns squad that is a very good defensive team. They rank 4th in points allowed and 9th in defensive rating. Phoenix is especially good at cutting off lanes and limiting assists, as they rank 1st in assists allowed.

This is a matchup play for me, as Chicago will need LaVine to try to be more aggressive and score.

Jordan Clarkson OVER 16.5 points

Clarkson is having a great season and has to be the leading candidate for 6th man of the year. He comes into this game averaging 18.3 PPG and that number has jumped to 19.6 per game over his last ten outings.

Tonight he faces a banged up Miami squad that is 28th in 3-pointers allowed. The Heat are 7-point dogs, which means the game script should call for plenty of minutes for Clarkson.

Another reason I love this number is because Clarkson has gone over this mark five games in a row. Let’s make that six before the night ends.
