(SportsRadio 610) -- A delay in COVID-19 testing results kept Astros third baseman Alex Bregman out of workouts Wednesday at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Chronicle first reported.
Bregman is believed to be healthy, the Chronicle reported, but his testing delay is yet another hiccup for the team as Major League Baseball tries to ramp up for a 60-game season later this month.
The Astros had to cancel their workouts Monday because of issues with testing. They returned to the field Tuesday and resumed workouts again Wednesday.
Bregman said he stayed home as a precaution and hopes to have the issues resolved soon.

His teammate, Astros outfielder Michael Brantley, expresses frustration in the lack of clarity from MLB, specifically Rob Manfred.

Missing workouts can be frustrating for players, who already feel rushed to ramp up for the shortened season.

"It's been very tough because we're trying to do in everything in our power to get ready for a season in a very short time," Brantley said. "Like a lot of players that are voicing their opinions, we kind of want answers. We want to know how these test results are going to work out for us. Not having Alex here today was just another day he didn't get to prepare. As I read around the league of a lot of players voicing their opinion that we need our test results faster. We'd love to hear from (MLB commissioner) Rob (Manfred) and some clarity of how we're going to get this done because that's very important."
