HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Astros have placed All Star reliever Ryan Pressly on the 10-day injured list due to right knee soreness.
The move was officially made Tuesday and is retroactive to July 27, meaning Pressly is eligible to return to the Astros active roster August 6.
Pressly, 30, has appeared in just two games after being hit in the knee by a comebacker July 18 against the Los Angeles Angels. He has a 2.03 ERA in 45 appearances this season with 55 strikeouts in 44.1 innings. His ERA stood at 1.42 before allowing three runs without recording an out in the Astros loss Saturday in St. Louis.
Bryan Abreu will replace Pressly on the Astros 25-man roster. Rated as the team's 6th best prospect by MLB.com, Abreu, 22, has a 5.34 ERA with AA Corpus Christi in 2019 with 67 strikeouts in 55.1 innings.
