“He (Watt) made some good plays, especially when they needed them. He’s a tremendous football player, he’s been playing at a high level for a very long time," Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen said following the Texans’ 22-19 win. "I think our guys did a good job with him, but he did make a couple of plays that ultimately cost us. He got the sack in the redzone. He’s a good player, there’s nothing else to say."
Watt was on a bit of a snap count. The plan was to use him in passing situations, and then see where the game was in the fourth quarter.
Even with the snap count being managed, Watt was in the backfield a lot.
Watt finished the game with one sack, one TFL, hit Allen two other times and was constantly being a pest for the Bills’ quarterback.
On a 3rd & 8 from the Houston 12, Watt sacked Allen for a loss of eight yards and forced Buffalo to settle for a field goal.
The play helped keep the Texans down only two possessions late in the third quarter, gave the team momentum, brought life into NRG Stadium and eventually a come from behind win for the Texans’ first playoff win since the 2016 season.
“This is a great win, and I’m very about it and thankful for it, but it’s still the first round of the playoffs,” Watt said. “I talked to the guys before the game, 20 teams are at home, 12 are in it. Now we move on, and obviously there’s less teams in it.”
