HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni said Friday that it's looking more and more likley that Chris Paul will make his return to the Rockets lineup Sunday against the Orlando Magic at Toyota Center.
"I think he's ready to go," D'Antoni said. "It's just being extra careful and Sunday seems to be a good day."
Paul has missed 16 games after straining his left hamstring December 20 in Miami. The team initially said he'd miss 2-4 weeks, but D'Antoni says the Rockets haven't felt the need to rush him back.
"He's been playing 3-on-3, and the training staff does a great job, they load him up, and the last couple of days he's been playing with equipment for about 30 minutes, so they build him up to a pretty good spot. If it were a playoff game tonight he might go, but why not be extra careful and get him back Sunday."
The Rockets have gone 11-5 with Paul during this Paul injury after losing all five games he missed in October and November.
