HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) – With Greg Mancz starting at right guard for Zach Fulton, the Texans used their fourth different offensive line combination in their fourth straight game.
“Greg started 16 games for us a couple of years ago, he’s played a lot of football for us, he just stepped right in and played,” Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien said on Monday.
The reason given for Zach Fulton not playing in Sunday’s game was that he was dealing with back tightness.
“Zach came in yesterday (Sunday) and just had his back lock up on him, and we loosened it up and felt like if we needed him he probably would have been able to play, but we went with Greg Mancz,” O’Brien added.
With Mancz starting, it was the fourth time in as many games that the Texans had to use a different starting offensive line. In addition to Mancz at right guard, the Texans started Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard at the tackle spots, Max Scharping was the other guard and Nick Martin started at center. That combination allowed the Panthers to sack Deshaun Watson six times.
