After averaging 43.6 points in 14 games, Rockets guard James Harden was named Western Conference Player of the Month for January, the NBA announced Friday.
Harden shot 43 percent from the field and 43.6 percent from behind the 3-point line while eclipsing the 40-point mark eight times, including a 61-point game January 23 against the New York Knicks. Harden also averaged 8.7 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.1 blocks while leading the Rockets to an 8-6 record. His 43.6 points per game is the seventh highest scoring average in NBA history over a single month; Wilt Chamberlain owns the top-six.
January marks the second straight month Harden has been named Western Conference Player of the Month and the seventh of his career, all with the Rockets, which is a franchise record.
Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
