HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- James Harden and Russell Westbrook combined to score 63 points as the Rockets increased their winning streak to five games with a 140-112 win over the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night at Toyota Center. 

Westbrook led the way with 33 points on 15-of-24 shooting to go with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Harden chipped in 30 points.


The win improves the Rockets to 38-20 on the season and they remain fourth in the Western Conference standings with 24 games to play.

Houston scored the game's first seven points only to see Memphis tie the game at 14 on Ja Morant's putback with 5:21 left in the first quarter.

Westbrook answered with a 19-footer and the Rockets led the rest of the way, with Westbrook's jumper starting a 21-3 run to end the first quarter. Jeff Green punctuated it with a three-pointer that beat the buzzer.

Memphis scored the first six points of the second quarter only to see the Rockets score the next eight.

Near the midway point of the quarter, Kyle Anderson scored five straight points to bring the Grizzlies within 13, but the Rockets answered with 10 in a row and led by 26 at the break.

Harden and Westbrook combined for 46 points while the Grizzlies scored 47 points.

The Rockets started the third quarter by scoring nine straight points to push their lead to 35, only to see the Grizzlies answer with 13 straight, capped by De'Anthony Melton's three-pointer.

The Rockets scored the next seven points, and while Memphis would pair the lead down to 17, the Grizzlies could never get any closer.

Austin Rivers made his first seven shots and scored 23 points off the bench.

Dillon Brooks led the Grizzlies with 22 points. 

The Rockets will be in action again Saturday night when they visit the Boston Celtics.
