HOUSTON (SPORTSRADIO 610) -- The Texans injury report has been relativity small leading up to the regular season.

Among one of the important names that has been on that list though is wide receiver Keke Coutee.

A hamstring issue derailed his season last year, and an ankle injury is the problem going into the first week of this year that could leave him on the sideline again.

“I’d say that’s touch-and-go. He practiced yesterday… So we’ll see how it goes today,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said. “There’s a possibility.”

A notable player that has been holding onto good health is Will Fuller.

His career in the NFL started similarly to Coutee’s with many appearances on the injury report. This season he is returning from a torn ACL and did not play in the preseason, but is ready for season opener in New Orleans.

“That’s big. I mean I think to have Will (Fuller) out there, I think that we’ve proven when Will has played, when we’ve had a healthy core of receivers, that’s usually led to some production,” O’Brien said.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Fulwer have played just 11 games together. In those games, the Texans average 30.8 points per game and 399.4 net yards per game.

Watson has thrown 12 touchdowns to Hopkins and 11 to Fuller, with a 105.6 passer rating in the 11 games.

Late addition Kenny Stills has also been trending up with the Texans wide receivers since joining the team via trade with Miami. He provides another threat for quarterback Deshaun Watson, although his play might be limited early on as he learns the playbook. More importantly, his health is valued as the team waits for Coutee’s return.

“Kenny (Stills) has come in here and been really impressive,” O’Brien said. “That’s a good receiving core.”
