HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Surgery to repair JJ Watt's torn pectoral "went smooth," the star defensive end said Tuesday on Twitter.

Watt warned his followers about potentially reckless tweets from Game 6 of the World Series, which the Astros lead 3-2. But don't blame Watt, blame the pain medication.

"Everything went smooth with the surgery, thank you for all of the kind words," Watt tweeted. "If I tweet anything crazy during the Astros game tonight, just blame it on the pain meds."

Watt left Sunday's game against the Raiders after tackling rookie running back Josh Jacobs for a six-yard loss.

There was almost immediate fear that the injury was serious and could keep him off the field for an extended period of time.

Dr. David J. Chao, who has experience diagnosing injuries in the NFL, joined Clint Stoerner on Tuesday and said he expects Watt's recovery to be straightforward.

Dr. Chao said he expects Watt to not only be ready for the regular season, but also offseason programs.

"I think this rehab will be a piece of cake for JJ Watt," Dr. Chao said. "I think he'll be fine."
