In his Football Morning in America column, NBC Sports' Peter King wrote he heard from two teams told him DeAndre Hopkins' situation with the Texans is worth watching.
"Houston is currently in draft hell, without a top-50 pick in 2020 and 2021," King said. "Coach Bill O'Brien has huge needs to fill on his offensive line, in the secondary and overall youth on the front seven; J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus will play this year at 31 and 30."
The Houston Chronicle's John McClain joined Payne and Pendergast on Monday morning, and said the only way the Texans would contemplate trading Hopkins is if he asks for a new contract.
Hopkins has three years, $40 million left on the contract extension he signed during training camp in 2017.
"I can't imagine trading Hopkins unless it's a financial issue," McClain said. "When they signed him (in 2017) they gave him more guaranteed money than any receiver in history, and I think he's going to make about $13 million this year, so that would be stunning."
Hopkins caught 104 passes last season for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns. He's been a first team All Pro selection each of the last three years.
