HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) - With his return from Tommy John Surgery pushed back more than three months due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. tossed a three-inning simulated game Saturday at Minute Maid Park during day two the Astros Summer Camp.

"He was pretty sharp," Astros manager Dusty Baker said.

McCullers unofficially threw 52 pitches to eight different Astros hitters and allowed just two hits, an Alex Bregman double to left-center and Jose Altuve line drive single up the middle.

"His changup was good." Altuve said. "His slider, four-seam (fastball) and two-seam (fastball) were really good. We're not worried about him at all."

McCullers faced Bregman in a live batting practice session earlier in the week, and Baker believes he looked better on Saturday.

"The other day he didn't have the command that he had today. He had a good changeup, he had a good breaking ball, and his and his two-seamer and four-seamer were looking pretty good."

McCullers said Friday he hopes to be built up to 90 pitches by the time the regular season begins.
