(SportsRadio 610) -- Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni is one of the oldest coaches in the NBA, but he is no more concerned about the so-called "bubble" environment in Orlando than he is the current one in Houston, where coronavirus cases continue to rise.
In fact, the 69-year-old D'Antoni figures the setup at the Disney camp later this month will be even safer, given the NBA's precautionary measures.
"I'll be, in that environment, a lot safer than the environment we're in right now," D'Antoni said Wednesday.
"It'll never be 100 percent (safe), but it's OK. It's what we need to do. We've got to get back to work and do it smartly. I think we'll do it smartly."
The Rockets are dealing with the coronavirus like everybody else around the country, D'Antoni said, though he declined to confirm positive tests within the team.
Whatever the situation is, D'Antoni said it should not affect the trip to Orlando next week (July 9).
"I'm following the guidelines like everybody else should be doing, hopefully they are doing it, knowing that it's serious and not something to play around with," D'Antoni said. "At the same time, we are going into a safe zone, as much as it can be. And I have complete confidence the NBA will do everything they can to keep us all safe, not just me but anybody.
"But also individually, we have to do what we need to do to stay safe. I'll be wearing masks. ... Other than that, social distancing and cleaning my hands, wearing a mask when I'm around somebody and go forward with that. I think if we all do that, it would help a whole lot in solving this problem."
The Rockets hold the sixth seed in the Western Conference and restart the season against the seventh-seed Dallas Mavericks on July 31.
