Houston (SPORTSRADIO 610) -A young fan was struck by a line drive foul ball off the bat of Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr., although reports from fans around where the incident occurred, and Astros security, indicated she would seemingly be okay. The focus would return to baseball and Astros starter Wade Miley who went seven solid innings with just two mistakes being a pair of solo home runs. The lineup would be unable to find its stroke like the previous games and fell to the Cubs by a final score of 2-1.
"I'm happy. We won another series. It doesn't feel good to talk it about after a loss, but we won another series. We beat some good teams," Astros Manager A.J. Hinch said. "We've been struck with a little bit of adversity. Our guys are staying upbeat, they're staying positive."
Miley allowed a lead off home run to Kyle Schwarber and another solo blast to Kris Bryant, but would strand the other five base runners he allowed. It was a season-high seven inning start for Wade with just six hits, one walk, two runs, and nine strikeouts. In eight of his twelve starts, Miley has allowed two earned runs or less.
Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks had an even better night going eight innings allowing four hits and one run. It is the fourth time this season he has gone eight or more innings. The Astros lineup managed just four hits.
"He's just really good. I mean he won a Cy Young for a reason," Hinch said.
