MLB Network Host Robert Flores: Astros Built For Sustained Success

MLB Network host Robert Flores joined Clint & Kamla to discuss who will win the AL Cy Young award between Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole, if Alex Bregman can win AL MVP, his biggest concerns on the Astros' roster going into the playoffs, his preferred ALDS matchup for the Astros between the A's and Rays.
And Flores didn't hold back with his thoughts on the Texans 2-2 start to the season.

The Astros face the winner of tonight's AL Wild Card matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Oakland Athletics.

They are favorites to win the World Series, which would be their second in three seasons.

When Rick Kamla asked Flores if we're watching an Astros dynasty, here's what the MLB Network host and native Houstonian had to say:

"I think the Astros are equipped to have a run like this to continue sustained success," Flores said. "One-sixty-two is a long, long season. And there's so much that wears on you physically, mentally. And ust look at last year what happened to this club - the injuries to (Carlos) Correa, (Jose) Altuve. At the end of this season, no matter what happens, there's a good chance Gerrit Cole is not back. So now you have to reload.

"But if you look at the core of this team - (Alex) Bregman, Altuve, you want to include (Yordan) Alvarez in there, you do have Correa for two more years before he is eligible for free agency - I think the pieces are in place. But when you say dynasty, and you're talking about repeated championships, I just think it's so difficult to pull that off in Major League Baseball. But I think this group is built to have a run of sustained success."
